Alkefjellet, or Guillemot Cliff, is a spectacular bird cliff in Svalbard, renowned for its columnar basalt formations and hundreds of thousands of nesting Brünnich's guillemots. Accessibility is almost exclusively by organized expedition cruise ship or boat tour during the short Arctic summer (typically June to August), when ice conditions permit; land access is virtually impossible and highly restricted. There are strict seasonal restrictions as the area is frozen and inaccessible for much of the year outside of summer.
