Cascades de Faarumai offers a refreshing natural experience on Tahiti's east coast, easily accessible by car with free parking. The first waterfall, Vaimahuta, is a short, easy walk suitable for all, while the two upper falls, Haamaremare and Topatari, require a moderate, potentially muddy and slippery hike, making sturdy footwear essential. Visits are generally self-guided and free of charge, though caution is advised on the upper trails, particularly after rain. The wet season (November-April) offers more powerful falls but also muddier trails; the dry season (May-October) provides easier hiking conditions. A quick stop at Vaimahuta takes about 30-60 minutes, while visiting all three falls can take 1.5-2.5 hours. Insect repellent and water are recommended.
