Rifugio Auronzo is a popular mountain hut located at the foot of the Tre Cime di Lavaredo in the Dolomites, making it an excellent base for hiking and enjoying breathtaking alpine scenery. It is accessible via a toll road from Misurina, or by bus during peak summer months when the road can be congested. Visiting in the summer (June to September) is ideal, and it is recommended to book a place in advance if you plan on staying overnight, as it can fill up quickly. The refuge itself offers basic shelter and food, serving as a starting point for numerous trails, including the famous Tre Cime loop which takes about 3-4 hours. A half-day is sufficient for a visit unless you're embarking on longer hikes. The toll road costs around 30 euros per vehicle, and meals at the refuge are reasonably priced but may have limited options. Weather can be unpredictable, so ensure you're equipped with appropriate clothing and hiking gear.
