Seongsan Ilchulbong, also known as Sunrise Peak, is a UNESCO World Heritage site on Jeju Island, South Korea, formed by hydrovolcanic eruptions approximately 5,000 years ago. The summit crater offers panoramic views, especially breathtaking at sunrise. The hike to the top is relatively short but steep, with stairs throughout. While the site is generally accessible, those with mobility issues may find the final ascent challenging. Visiting independently allows flexibility, but guided tours provide valuable geological and historical context. Peak seasons (spring and fall) can be crowded. There is a small entrance fee (approximately ₩5,000 for adults), and a typical visit lasts 1-2 hours. Note that weather conditions can affect visibility at the summit, and access may be restricted during severe weather.
