The Osumi Canyon, often referred to as the "Grand Canyon of Albania," is a spectacular natural attraction best visited in spring (April-May) for exhilarating white-water rafting, when water levels are high, or during summer for hiking and exploring its dramatic cliffs, caves, and waterfalls. Accessibility to the canyon requires driving, with a 4x4 vehicle often recommended for the final unpaved sections; many visitors opt for guided tours from Berat or Çorovodë which include transport. While viewpoints can be enjoyed solo, guided tours are strongly advised for safe navigation of the canyon floor, especially for rafting, and typically include equipment and expert local knowledge. Rafting tours generally cost €40-€80 per person and typically last a half to full day on the river, making a total visit duration often a full day including travel. In late summer, water levels can be very low, impacting rafting, but hiking remains an option. Visitors should bring sturdy footwear, swimwear, and sun protection.
